Conservation Issues

The south eastern waterfront in San Francisco is a site for feeding, roosting and nesting birds. Pier structures along the bay are currently used by a variety of bird species. These piers contain toxic materials (creosote) and are slated for removal by the Port of San Francisco once funding becomes available. A variety of waterbirds depend on the bay all year.

Reports

Golden Gate Bird Alliance has partnered with San Francisco Bay Bird Observatory to monitor the birds along the south eastern waterfront.
