Become a Golden Gate Bird Alliance Docent

This fall, Golden Gate Bird Alliance volunteer docents will be trained on the natural history of the Bay Trail from the Albany Mudflats to the Richmond Marina. On the trail, docents will set up birding stations to increase the public’s interest in local birds and to promote wildlife stewardship.

Training takes place: Monday Oct. 25 and Tuesday, Oct. 26

Golden Gate Bird Alliance, one of California’s oldest conservation groups, needs WEEKDAY volunteers this school year to work in our award-winning Eco-Education Programs based in East Oakland and North Richmond.

Come work with 3^rd, 4^th and 5^th graders during their field trip to the Martin Luther King, Jr. Regional Shoreline and Pt. Pinole Regional Shoreline, both have important wildlife habitat for many species

Help teach tomorrow’s leaders the importance of protecting the San Francisco Bay as we:

• plant native plants to improve the habitats for the endangered California Clapper Rail
• catch and study plankton and other estuarine invertebrates
• observe wildlife within the wetland habitat

Field trips generally run from 9:30 am – 1:30 pm.
No commitments necessary and every effort helps!
Carpools arranged
Internships also available

One training was held on September 18, 2010 at 10 a.m.
